POSITIVE BEHAVIOURS FOR LEARNING
Our PB4L focus for Week 1 is understanding the meaning of the words respect,
responsibility and safe
In the explicit teaching lessons, the expected behaviours taught will be:
Respect means treating others the way you want to be treated. Showing that you care
about other people, their feelings, and their belongings by how you speak and act.
It’s like saying, “You matter”
Responsibility means doing what you are expected to do the best you can and taking care of what you need to do—even when no one is watching.
It’s like saying, “You can count on me!”
Safe means protecting yourself and others from getting hurt by making good choices.
It’s like saying, “I care about keeping everyone okay.”
Our PB4L/SEL focus for Week 2 is Staying on Task
In the explicit teaching lessons, the expected behaviours taught will be:
* Look at your task or assignment.
* Think about the steps and equipment needed to complete the task.
* Focus all your attention on the task.
* Stop working only when instructed.
* Ignore distractions and interruptions from others.
* Put your hand up if you need help
Examples of behaviours that negatively impact on Respectful, Responsible and Safe
Staying on Task behaviour to be taught include:
* Not having equipment organised
* Distracting/Interrupting Others
* Calling Out
* Not completing the task to the best of your ability
We would very much appreciate you discussing these weekly focuses with your children and reviewing the expected and non-acceptable behaviours in our endeavour to see that St Patrick’s is a more respectful, responsible, and safe learning community for all.

St Patrick’s Uniform – Hair
A reminder for Term 3
At St Patrick’s School wearing school uniform is a visible sign that your child is a member of our special community. The pride students demonstrate in wearing school uniform correctly is a mark of their sense of belonging. Wearing the correct and full uniform assists in developing self-respect, self-discipline and care for oneself.
With this in mind please see below an extract from our Uniform Code to remind you of the expectations for students with regard to hairstyles and haircuts.
● Hair should be styled in a manner that attracts positive comments only, with an emphasis on a neat and tidy appearance. No extreme haircuts or styles.
● Girls may use school coloured hair accessories. Hair accessories can include: ribbons,
scrunchies, thin headbands or plain clips to hold hair back.
● Minimal products (e.g. hairspray, gel) may be used to tame or control hair, but not to style (e.g. spike) hair.
● Hair must not be bleached or dyed in any way, this includes the addition of hair
extensions, hair pieces or coloured braids.
● Hair, including fringes, must not fall on a child’s face, covering their eyes.
Students’ hair cannot be unevenly shaved, including having any lines shaved into their head.
● Hair should be cut in an evenly cut manner. Hair should not have an extreme difference in length, but rather be of a blended appearance.
● Hair that is collar length or longer must be tied back.
