School-wide Positive Behaviours for Learning (SPB4L)
Our SPB4L focus for this week (Week 2) is Respect for Other People. In the explicit teaching lessons the expected behaviours taught will be:
- Looking at others when they are talking
- Speaking courteously to others
- Accepting other peoples differences
- Listening to other peoples opinions
- Encouraging friendships
- Keeping personal space
Examples of behaviours that negatively impact respectful, responsible and safe Respect for Other People to be taught include:
- Minding someone else’s business
- Taking someone else’s belongings
- Speaking unkindly to someone or about someone
- Bossing people around
- Physical aggression
- Invading someone’s personal space
- Keeping friends to myself
Our SPB4L focus for next week (Week 3) is Good Sportsmanship. In the explicit teaching lessons the expected behaviours taught will be:
- Waiting my turn
- Using good manners
- Playing by the rules (playing fairly)
- Encouraging others
- Keeping my hands, feet and objects to myself
- Taking it when I’m out
- Being a gracious winner
Examples of behaviours that negatively impact respectful, responsible and safe behaviours when displaying Good Sportsmanship to be taught include:
- Pushing in
- Talking rudely to others (yelling)
- Ignoring the rules
- Making hurtful comments (putting people down)
- Being physically aggressive
- Not taking it when I’m out
- Being a sore loser
We would very much appreciate your discussing these weekly focuses with your children and reviewing the expected and non-acceptable behaviours in our endeavour to see that St Patrick’s is a more respectful, responsible and safe learning community for all.

It is with great pride that I inform you over the last two weeks 40 Citizenship, Merit, Library or Uniform Awards or Playground Affirmation Awards were given whilst there were 6 incidences of inappropriate classroom or playground behaviour recorded. This is a significant accomplishment. Congratulations and thank you boys and girls
WE’RE GOING GREENER - NUDE FOOD EVERYDAY
Week 3 Data
Data will be collected one day each week again this Term with the class that has most students bringing ‘Nude Food’ to school during Term 4 enjoying scones baked in the wood fire oven in the garden in Week 10 with thanks to Mr Mattas.
