Our SPB4L focus for this week (Week 8) is Self Respect

In the explicit teaching lessons the expected behaviours taught will be:

  1. Completing my work to the best of my ability
  2. Following the school rules
  3. Accepting responsibility for my own actions
  4. Being honest
  5. Learning from my mistakes

Examples of behaviours that negatively impact on Respectful, Responsible and Safe Respect for Self to be taught include:

  1. Not trying my best
  2. Not following the school rules
  3. Being dishonest
  4. Blaming others for my behaviour

Our SPB4L focus for next week (Week 9) is Respect for Others

In the explicit teaching lessons the expected behaviours taught will be:

  1. Looking at others when they are talking
  2. Speaking courteously to others
  3. Accepting other people’s differences
  4. Listening to other people’s opinions
  5. Encouraging friendships
  6. Keeping personal space

Examples of behaviours that negatively impact Respectful, responsible and safe behaviours when Respecting Others to be taught include:

  1. Minding someone else’s business
  2. Taking someone else’s belongings
  3. Speaking unkindly to someone or about someone

  7. Keeping friends to myself

We would very much appreciate your discussing these weekly focuses with your children and reviewing the expected and non-acceptable behaviours in our endeavour to see that St Patrick’s is a more respectful, responsible and safe learning community for all.

SPB4L Data

It is with pride that I inform you that over the last two weeks (Weeks 6 and 7) TBC students were given Citizenship, Merit, Library or Uniform Awards or Playground Affirmation Awards whilst there were 5 incidents of Inappropriate behavior recorded.

Congratulations boys and girls. This is wonderful news to share.

Please continue to act respectfully, responsibly and safely.

WE’RE GOING GREENER - NUDE FOOD EVERYDAY

We require all students to bring their food in reusable containers of on a daily basis please. Quite simply what we’re asking you to do is to send your children to school with food that is not wrapped in foil, plastic or commercial packaging. Our hope is that all food will come to school in containers that can be brought home rather than wrapping or packaging that ends up as rubbish in our bins. We wish to eliminate single use plastics and food packaging to make a significant impact in reducing rubbish that goes to landfill.

It is our response to instilling in our students an ecological consciousness that aligns itself with the efforts and expectations of the wider community and puts into practice the principles of the Papal encyclical, ‘Laudato Si.”

Requiring students to bring Nude Food empowers students to make conscious choices about what they eat, and encourages them to think about their impact on the environment and their health.

Your support for this would be sincerely appreciated.

The GREAT St Patrick’s School and Parish GREAT FETE

I wish to convey my heartfelt thanks to the extraordinary parent, parish and staff volunteers for their generous commitment to the GREAT FETE. Whilst I understand it was disappointing to have to postpone it the decision to do so was in the best interests of all concerned. We wish of course to reschedule the Fete but I’m sure you’ll understand that in the present circumstances it isn’t possible to consider holding the fete in the near future. It is anticipated that the fete will be held in Term 4 however a date is yet to be confirmed.

The prizes for the raffle and the silent auction will be held over until a new date for the fete is confirmed.

Pre- purchased raffle tickets and ride passes will similarly be held over until the fete is rescheduled.

If you wish to have the money for your pre-purchased tickets re-imbursed please contact Mrs Kelly Pucillo on 0413 768 894.

If you have other questions about the fete please contact Mr Hoctor at school.

Mr Gavan Hoctor - Assistant Principal
