Bread Clips & Bottle Caps Winner!
After a tedious session of counting thousands of bottle caps and bread clips, the Mini Vinnies team and I are thrilled to announce that the winning class is..... Year 4! Year 4 collected over 4000 items in just over a term. What an incredible effort! As a reward Year 4 got to choose our Mufti Day Theme.
Here is the final count from each class:
Kinder: 1604
Year 1: 1225
Year 2: 1022
Year 3: 1848
Year 4: 4150
Year 5: 3300
Year 6: 1200
Total: 14,349
The bread clips will be donated to a company who will convert them into wheelchairs, they are called ‘Aussie Bread Clips for Wheelchairs’. It was reported that ‘Lids4Kids’ is not accepting bottle caps anymore, however after some further research it looks like we can actually donate our thousands of bottle caps to them, instead of sending them to Terracycle. That’s great news and I will update the community when we have confirmation.
For the time being we are no longer accepting bottle caps and bread clips.
Many thanks for your support!
Year 6 Mass with the Bishop
Usually, each year our Year 6 students get to participate in a very special mass with the Bishop with students from several other schools in the Diocese. Unfortunately, this is once again cancelled this year due to covid restrictions. However, their spiritual formation day ‘ACTIVATE Fire’ has been rescheduled for July 30th, and this is still planned to go ahead. Fingers crossed it does so as it is a fantastic day and very rewarding for Year 6!
All the best,
Mr Sam Mattas
