LIBRARY
On Wednesday 25 May our school will be joining millions of children for the reading of this year's chosen book 'Family Tree' by Josh Pyke.
National Simultaneous Storytime is an important annual campaign that aims to encourage young children to read and enjoy books as well as teach them the value of literacy. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around Australia, New Zealand and the world.
We will have a guest reader to present the book to the children. Mrs Janet Bowater our favourite storyteller will be joining us for this event. The children love having Mrs Bowater read to them so it will be a treat having her with us.
To prepare the children you may want to talk to your child/ren about the meaning of the family tree so they have an idea of what it is.
We are looking forward to this event and we are certain the children will enjoy it too.
Premier'sReadingChallenge
The students are starting to add their reading on the website for Premiers Reading Challenge. Students have been shown from year 3 to 6 how to do this. I have encouraged them all to have a go at home. For those students that don't have an option for using technology at home, they will be given the opportunity to enter them on a Friday at lunchtime.
