Dear Parents
Welcome back to Term 2 . I hope you have had an enjoyable Easter. Now that we are allowed to have parents onsite ( we recommend social distancing still be observed you are most welcome to attend our Assemblies on a Thursday morning.
Special wishes to all mums, grandmothers and carers for Mother’s Day next Sunday May 9th. We also remember at this time those wonderful mothers who were in our lives and have entered eternal life.
There are many ways to answer the question, “What is Motherhood?” and one of those ways might be that Motherhood means sharing in the creative power of God. Conceiving, carrying and giving birth to a human being, is as close as any person can get to the act of creation. This is the beginning of Motherhood but it is far from the end. Motherhood is also about nurturing, sacrificing, loving and, ultimately, letting go
Jesus’ mother, Mary, experienced all the above and had the added drama of losing her son for three days. Eventually, she and Joseph found Jesus in the Temple having a discussion with a group of Rabbis. When Mary rebuked Jesus for “treating us this way”, Jesus informed her that the Temple was the first place she should have looked: “Did you not know that I must be about the things of my Father?”
Poor Mary! Besides being embarrassed for Joseph, she probably found it hard to accept that Jesus was growing up with a mind of his own and his own sense of how his Father was leading him. Mary was caught up in the tension of fulfilling the daily responsibilities of her role of mother and parenting the Son of God. All mothers are caught up in the world of tension as they try to be all things to their children.

PB4L Data
It is with pride that I inform you that over the last Term 275 Citizenship, Merit, Library or Uniform Awards or Playground Affirmation Awards were given to students whilst there were a mere 10 incidents of Inappropriate behavior recorded.
Congratulations boys and girls. This is simply extraordinary news to share.
Please continue to act respectfully, responsibly and safely.
On Monday the students enjoyed 15 minutes of extra play to thank them as a consequence of the fact that all of them played respectfully, responsibly and safely in Week 1 such that there weren’t any names recorded in the Playground Incident Folder.
Diocesan Cross Country
On Tuesday a squad of 21 students participated in the Diocesan Cross Country. In what proved to be a glorious Autumn day the students gave their all as they valiantly ran the 2 km course. Each race had around 100 competitors and our girls and boys did themselves, their families and school proud competing courageously. Upon their return to where our school had assembled the students were hot and tired but justifiably proud of completing the course. For many students this was their first Diocesan Cross Country Event and our school results are to be celebrated with a number of students finishing in the top twenty placings.
Thank you to each of the 21 students for accepting the invitation to attend the carnival and to their families who attended enthusiastically cheering our team on.
Children who attended were given a Representative Sports Shirt to wear on the day. Please wash and return to the school as soon as possible. Your assistance in this is much appreciated.
Thank you
Mr Gavan Hoctor – Assistant Principal

First Reconciliation – Year 3 Students
A very exciting couple of weeks for several of the Year 3 girls and boys who are preparing for the sacrament of Reconciliation next week. The students have been attending workshops with their parents, participated in the final preparation evening and have been attending Mass every week for the past several weeks. Well done to Miss Cappetta for preparing the students thoroughly. Good luck girls and boys!
All the best,
Mr Sam Mattas
Religious Education Coordinator
On Friday 23 April we gathered together for an Anzac Liturgy. The children were very respectful as we remembered those who fought and continue to fight and those who lost their lives so that we are able to live in freedom. As the children joined in the procession past the Anzac Memorial Stone you could not hear a sound. They certainly showed respect and understanding of what Anzac Day is all about.
Many thanks to Mr Mattas and the children form Years Four and Six who organised and presented a wonderful liturgy.
Wishing all the children celebrating birthdays or have recently celebrated all the very best wishes from all of us at St Patrick's.

Pastoral Support Card Making
A big thank you to staff and students who bought cards last term. My card making group and I were delighted to raise $62 for Project Compassion. Here are some pictures of the cards that they sold. I am looking forward to deciding what our next card making project is going to be along with organising some more activities for students at break times in Term 2.
