Father
I am choosing to rest in you
and to allow your peace to calm me
in my current circumstances
and to strengthen me with
the courage to face these

Dear Parents
Welcome to Term 3! Little did we know that we would be experiencing once again remote learning as a result of the pandemic. I thank you for your patience, supportive and kind comments through emails to myself and our teachers.
Once again thank you to the many parents who have discussed the circumstances necessitating their child/ren attendance at school since the beginning of the term. I respect you contacting me and I wish those families well and of course our school is open for them.
As part of the consideration I have for my staff and students and families I am required to limit the amount of staff onsite to the absolute minimum.
Therefore, as of next Monday we have minimal staff on site for supervision purposes with the majority of teachers working remotely each day. This week we have had an average of 46 students on site each day. Therefore, if you are working from home and have been sending your child/ren to school, please reconsider so that we can reduce the level of interaction between staff and students. We will continue to offer supervision for students of essential workers who need to provide essential service in the community.
The health advice from our elected government leaders and health experts is very clear, we have to work together as a local and wider community to reduce the community spread so that we can come out of lockdown and once again have face to face learning.
This year we have had a smooth transition to remote learning and I thank teachers for the time and preparation that it takes to create the activities and then give feedback to the children . A special thank you to our support staff who are in classrooms allowing our teachers to respond to the children online. We appreciate that some students may not be able to complete all tasks during the school day. Parents are able to support their children outside of these hours, we are truly grateful for the assistance you are providing during home learning. Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if there are areas of concern with the learning activities.
Take care, stay safe and may God bless each of your families in the weeks ahead.

Pastoral Support Worker Update by Mrs Catriona Neilsen
During the first week of Remote Learning, I managed to be at school to be with the students who were in attendance. It was good to see staff and students and to provide support to those who needed some extra guidance with their remote learning. From this week I have been asked to work from home. Hence, I have established a Google Classroom, “St Patrick’s Port Kembla, Pastoral Support with Mrs Neilsen.” I am using this platform to provide ideas for Art and Craft activities; Opportunities for Mindfulness; Boredom Busters and ways to keep a positive mindset during this time. Here is the invitation link for your child to access the classroom: https://classroom.google.com/c/MzcwNzgzMzA3MTkz?cjc=2hiwu4f or if you would just like to enter in the code it is 2hiwu4f.
If anyone needs to contact me whilst we are remote learning (for extra support or would like some Art and Craft or Mindful Activities) please send me an email: CatrionaN@catholiccare.dow.org.au
