O almighty and merciful God, Lord of the universe and of history. All that You have created is good and your compassion for the sins of humankind knows no limits. We come to You today to ask You to restore peace to the world and its people, to keep far away from it the hatred and despair which give rise to terror. Give trust and a readiness to forgive to the hearts of your creatures.
O Giver of life, we pray to You for our Muslim brothers and sisters who have died as victims of brutal attacks in Christchurch. Wipe away their pain and tears before your throne of glory.
O Jesus, Prince of Peace, we pray to You for the ones who have been wounded in these acts of inhuman violence. Heal their bodies and hearts; console them with Your strength.
Holy Spirit Consoler, visit the families of the victims. Wrap them in the mantle of Your divine mercy.
Touch the hearts of those who inflict terror, violence and division so that they may turn from evil actions to the way of peace and respect for every human being, regardless of religion or origin.
O God, Eternal Father, in Your mercy hear our prayer which we raise up to You. We turn to You with great hope, full of trust in Your infinite Mercy. Grant us your peace. Through Christ our Lord. Amen
Inspired by a prayer of Pope Francis
Thank you for the many ways you support our school. St Patrick’s celebration was a wonderful community event with many parents baking, attending the Eric Genuis concert, our St Pat’s activities and manning stalls. A big surprise to see PADDY visit – always great to see him at our school.
Thank you to the parents in the last few weeks who have helped in the library supporting Mrs Carey in setting up the Premiers Reading Challenge.
We welcomed once again the Japanese students. This is always a special annual event where they share art and craft with our students. Some students played with their paper planes in the playground.
Special thanks to Father Mark who brought Eric Genuis to our school. I had many comments from the children after the concert:
Wow ! he can play the piano, I learnt a lot about the cello, he was funny, I cried when he told us about his daughter, he was friendly, he had lots of good messages, music can be different, I really enjoyed the concert!
Congratulations to our new P&F executive. On behalf of the school I am most grateful for all you do to support our school.

WE’RE GOING GREENER - NUDE FOOD EVERYDAY
We require all students to bring their food in reusable containers of on a daily basis. Quite simply what we’re asking you to do is to send your children to school with food that is not wrapped in foil, plastic or commercial packaging. Our hope is that all food will come to school in containers that can be brought home rather than wrapping or packaging that ends up as rubbish in our bins. We wish to eliminate single use plastics and food packaging to make a significant impact in reducing rubbish that goes to landfill.
It is our response to instilling in our students an ecological consciousness that aligns itself with the efforts and expectations of the wider community and puts into practice the principles of the Papal encyclical, ‘Laudato Si.”
Requiring students to bring Nude Food empowers students to make conscious choices about what they eat, and encourages them to think about their impact on the environment and their health.
We have had a great response so far this term.

Dear Parents,
‘Paddy Fete’
Our annual ‘Paddy Fete’ was another roaring success on Friday, 15 March, celebrating the feast day of our patron Saint, Saint Patrick. All the students had an amazing day and as always it was fantastic to see so many parents and other family members getting involved and helping out. I hope the green nail polish and hair spray didn’t stain too many clothing items!
Catholic Schools Week Wrap-up
A sincere thank you to all the parents, grandparents, families and community members who joined us at some point in time during Catholic Schools Week. It was amazing to see so many of you at school, and to share a scone and a cuppa with you in the garden! We also raised a large sum of money which will be donated to Project Compassion, helping people access clean drinking water in under-privileged countries across the world.
Kind Regards
Mr Sam Mattas
Acting Religious Education Coordinator
A message from Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong
Thank you for joining our Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW) schools across the Illawarra, Macarthur, Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands, and Catholic school communities across NSW, in celebrating Catholic Schools Week for 2019. It's been a wonderful week of open days, activities, masses, liturgies and other special events - including the Diocesan Education Mass, which was a significant highlight of CSW. Read more about the Mass and listen to Director of Schools, Peter Turner's speech here.
Catholic Schools Week has showcased some of the fantastic things happening in our schools every day, and has very much highlighted our local Catholic schools - including yours! - as vibrant places of learning, faith, hope and opportunity. Thank you for your involvement.
We'd like to share with you our small Catholic Schools Week video that has been promoted throughout last week. Can you spot the students from your school in this video?

Dear Parents
Last Monday the students who decided to take part in the Premier's Reading Challenge received their log sheet, username and password. It was fantastic to see over 80 students deciding to take part!
The next step is for students and parents to log on to the PRC website and be sure the log on that students received is working. The students can then log on regularly to enter their reading log sheet. This needs to be done so that at the end of August the students reading can be signed off by me for them to receive their certificate of completion.
Below are some tips for parents and carers who are participating in the Premier's Reading Challenge.
Once again if you have any problems please come and see me in the library.
Thanking you
Mrs Tracey Carey
Librarian
Sport Representatives
Over the last fortnight we have had several children attend many different Diocesan Sport trials all over the Illawarra and Macarthur regions. These children unfortunately were not successful at their trials, however we are all proud of their efforts nonetheless!
Well done:
Sienna Curtis - basketball
Chloe Malby - hockey
Mikaela Markovski - football (soccer)
Christian Purdevski - football (soccer)
AFL Paul Kelly Cup
14 brave students from Years 5 and 6 endured the scorching Albion Park heat to participate in the AFL Paul Kelly Cup competition on Tuesday, 12 March. The boys and girls played 3 games in total, dominating the first game, followed by 2 losses in the remaining games. The children represented St Patrick’s with pride and honour, and as always had a great day in the sun!
A special mention to Eva Gebauer, Chloe Malby and Mikaela Markovski, who played in the boys team against all boys teams. The girls tackled, kicked and hand-passed like veterans, showing the boys a thing or two along the way!
