POSITIVE BEHAVIOURS FOR LEARNING
Our PB4L focus for Week 1 will be Good Manners
In the explicit teaching lessons, the expected behaviours taught will be:
* Saying ‘Please’ and ‘Thank you’
* Saying ‘Excuse me’
* Saying ‘Good Morning”
* Asking ‘May I’
* Waiting my turn to talk
* Looking at the person speaking
* Using the other person’s name
Examples of behaviours that negatively impact on Respectful, Responsible and Safe
behaviour when using Good Manners to be taught include:
* Not saying please
* Interrupting
* Walkingaway when someone is talking to you
* Ignoring others
* Not using the other person's name
Our PB4L focus for Week 2 is the No, Stop, Don’t - 3 Step Plan
We teach this to the students so that they have a way to manage situations with other
students if they feel that are being treated disrespectfully, irresponsibly, or unsafely.
In the explicit teaching lessons, the expected behaviours taught will be:
STEP 1:
Say NO, STOP and/or DON’T
to the person assertively
NO
“No I won’t …..”
“No I don’t want to …….”
STOP
“Stop it!”
Stop doing that!”
Stop saying those things!”
DON’T
“I don’t like it …….”
STEP 2:
Tell the person assertively
“Stop it or I’ll tell a teacher”
“Stop saying that or I’ll tell a teacher”
“Stop doing that or I’ll tell a teacher”
STEP 3:
Tell the nearest teacher
We would very much appreciate you discussing this weekly focus with your children and reviewing the expected and non-acceptable behaviours in our endeavour to see that St Patrick’s is a more respectful, responsible, and safe learning community for all.
PB4L Data
It is with pride that I inform you that in the last two weeks has begun 87 students were given Citizenship, Merit or Library Awards whilst there were 10 incidents of Inappropriate behaviour recorded.
Please strive to act respectfully, responsibly, and safely girls and boys.

A friendly reminder that on Friday 26 th July (Week 1, Term 3) we will be celebrating Grandparents Day. This is a special day to acknowledge the important role that our grandparents play in our lives.
If you could please remind all the wonderful grandparents in our school community of this event that would be greatly appreciated.
The day will begin with a Mass in the church commencing at 9am. From there, Grandparents are invited to the hall for morning tea. After a short amount of time, the children will join their grandparents for a picnic on the grass. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic blanket with them to sit on, otherwise there will be seats scattered around should visitors wish to sit on a bench instead. (We ask however that none of the children enter the hall during this time, and that visitors ensure that lids are kept on cups of coffee or tea at all times.)
After the break, we will transition to the classrooms where our grandparents will spend 25-30 minutes participating in some interactive learning with their grandchildren.
The day should be finished by 12pm.
We look forward to celebrating this wonderful community event!
The Living Classroom Report – Friday – Week 8 – Emelia Connor
On Friday of Week 8 Year 4 was in the garden with Mr Mattas, Mrs Madaschi and Mrs Kapsimallis. To start the day, Year 4 does something called a check-in. A check-in is when everyone stands up in a circle and says their name, how they're feeling, their favourite vegetable, and their favourite job in the garden. After that we got out the tools such as spades, loppers, and garden forks. Mr Mattas then gave us our jobs. We get our jobs by putting up our hands, then Mr Mattas picks some people do to it. Mr Mattas said the main job was weeding. Everyone was given a different part of the
garden to weed. The entire class was weeding until lunch, and some children also got to ‘chop n drop’. ‘Chop n drop’ is where you trim back any overgrown or dead foliage, cut it down to small pieces, then spread it around the bottom of a fruit tree in the shape of a bird’s nest. This a great way to keep the trees happy and healthy. After lunch some people were weeding the little garden near the handball court and the rest of the class was weeding the garden. When it was the end of the day the entire class got to take home juicy mandarins.
It was a great day!

It has been a busy first half of the year for our P&F committee and volunteers. We have been involved in many celebrations and activities throughout the school and look forward to many more in the second half of the year.
We have had multiple canteen days that have provided lunches and snacks to the students at St. Patrick’s Primary School, perking up their days and saving parents from the lunch packing for a day. This included our volunteers running a fantastic St Patrick’s Day canteen during the St. Patrick’s Week celebrations that saw some amazing green snacks being sold.
Our spectacular Easter Raffle saw an amazing 12 prizes being given away that included chocolates, bunnies, and many baskets of goodies to the lucky winners.
We held a Mother’s Day stall that was run by our volunteers, this allowed students to purchase a gift for their Mother or a special person in their lives. The students always love to have the opportunity to choose something special that ‘Mum doesn’t know about’, and this year we had some amazing products that were donated ranging from chocolates and tea to plants, jewellery, keyrings, candles and much more. This is not only a great day for students but a wonderful fundraising opportunity as so many of the items students were able to purchase were donated by people in our school community.
Our volunteers were put to work on our Bunnings Barbeque day which saw a lot of people come and support us, through volunteering, and purchasing a sausage sizzle. A special thank you must go to Mr Hoctor and Mrs Papadopoulos for their fantastic work serving customers.
We volunteer as a P&F committee and fundraise to support the students and teachers at St Patrick’s Primary School. We do this through supporting educational opportunities and to help with the purchasing of items that the school may not have otherwise been able to aquire. We help with the payments for busses for sporting events and with equipment and technology upgrades among other things.
If you are able and are interested in helping the P&F, please feel free to contact us: via our email address pandf@sppkdow.catholic.edu.au, let us know via our google form https://forms.gle/NoJhXZXC1o36XC47A, or come along to our P&F meetings and have a chat about what we are doing.
Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday 30th July, feel free to come along. New members are always welcome, you don’t need to be a committee member to attend and put forward ideas! We have a wonderful group of parents working together to support our amazing school and teachers.
Kind regards
