Dear God
In this season of Advent, inspire us to be people of hope.
Encourage us not to be greedy for material possessions, but for justice and truth.
Enflame us with a love for others, which crosses boundaries of race, religion and nationality.
Stir within us a desire to fight for the integrity of creation and appreciate the immense beauty of the earth.
Be with us, Lord, at this time, that we may be a people of hope.
Amen.

Dear Parents
Well, we have come to the end of a very unusual year, however we together can celebrate that we have achieved much despite its challenges.
The boys and girls have been amazing throughout the year and your support with the restrictions has been wonderful. Fortunately we have been able to continue with the canteen – many thanks to Kelly Pucillo and her team of ‘canteeners’. We were also able to hold our Year 5 and 6 Camp and our Year 6 Graduation both under strict COVID requirements.
Over the holidays we will be re-turfing the grass playground. We are also allowing space using soft fall material for some play equipment. The plumber has located a 30,000L tank in this area which will provide an excellent water supply to the new sprinkler system over the playground and to the garden.
I have been listening to the Year 5 candidates this week nominating themselves for School Captain and Vice Captain. All the boys and girls have delivered amazing speeches outlining reasonable activities for the school if they were to be voted. The most important learning for me was ‘student voice ‘ and I will be organising time each term to hear proposals and suggestions from our students. Election of the sports captains and Liturgical, Environmental and Community Leaders will occur on Monday Dec 14.
Thank you to Mr Hoctor and the wonderful parents, families and friends who supported our Monster Raffle. Many thanks to Mrs Plataniotis who worked behind the scenes in assisting Mr Hoctor.

Positive Behaviours for Learning (PB4L)
Our PB4L focus for next two weeks is the Acrostic based on the Season of Advent
We would very much appreciate your discussing this weekly focus with your children in our endeavour to see that St Patrick’s is a more respectful, responsible and safe learning community for all.
PB4L Data
It is with pride that I inform you that over the last two weeks (Weeks 7 and 8) 65 students were given Citizenship, Merit, Library or Uniform Awards or Playground Affirmation Awards whilst there were just 2 incidences of Inappropriate behavior recorded.
Congratulations and thank you boys and girls. Please continue to act respectfully, responsibly and safely.
Congratulations to the following children from Year 3 for making their First Holy Communion on Sunday the 22nd of November.
They were a part of a wonderful Mass, and should be very proud of achieving this milestone in their sacramental journey.
Miss Olivia Cappetta
Wishing all the children who have recently celebrated or celebrating birthdays all the very best wishes.

With the warmer temperatures it is most important that children come to school with their own water bottle. Due to COVID the bubblers are unable to be accessed. To ensure your child stays hydrated please ensure that the bottle is packed daily.
We had a visit from our Fruit and Vegetable friends this week and they entertained us while also educated us about the importance of Nude Food. They performed a great rap song for us.
The lyrics are below and maybe your families would like to have a go at rapping also.
It's 2020 and we need a change
for future generations, we must sustain
because did you know, our oceans are dying
and the number of plastic is multipling.
So don't use plastic cutlery and plates
Spread the word and tell your mates!!
Christmas in Wollongong will be a bit different in 2020, but for those celebrating, there are still plenty of activities for all ages to get into the festive spirit.
Details of local activities are below. Make sure you check back regularly for the latest updates.
City of Wollongong Giving Tree Appeal and Bikers Toy Run
Our annual City of Wollongong Giving Tree Appeal and Bikers Toy Run is more important than ever this year, and the generosity of our community will shine bright as it always has.
To keep you safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, this year we're asking for online donations to these two charities: St Vincent de Paul Society and Anglicare. They'll use your donation to help buy and safely distribute food, gift vouchers and toys for those most vulnerable in our community over the festive season.
Pick a charity below to donate or find out more.
