The Rosary is such an important tool for prayer in our lives that the entire month of October has been dedicated to the Rosary. According to tradition, the idea of the Rosary was given to Saint Dominic when the Virgin Mary appeared to him in an apparition in the year 1214. This Marian apparition is given the title of Our Lady of the Rosary. The liturgical feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated every year on October 7th. It was instituted to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary in gratitude for the protection that she gives the Church in answer to the praying of the Rosary by the faithful. In the month of October, let us consider this beautiful prayer of the Rosary as a means that we too can use in order to draw closer to Jesus and Mary by meditating on the great mysteries of our salvation.
SUMMER UNIFORM
Thank you for ensuring that your child(ren) are dressed in the correct summer uniform which we ask all students to be dressed in from the beginning of next week (Monday October 24).
As a reminder, please ensure that the children wear fold-over white socks as part of the summer uniform not ankle socks/sockettes. Secondly, I remind you that black ‘joggers’ are not the correct shoe for the summer uniform. Students are required to wear all black leather or ‘leather look’ shoes with their summer\ uniform.
P&F Meeting
Our next P&F meeting will be held on Wednesday 26 October. Our current P&F do such an amazing job, particularly in the area of fundraising for the school. We would love to see some new faces at the next meeting, so please come along, even if this is your first time.
KEMBLA ST ENTRANCE
Please remember that the Kembla St gate will be open from 8:15am each morning for student access to the school site. Playground supervision begins from that time. Should you arrive prior to 8:15 please remain with your child.
Thank you
Mr Gavan Hoctor - Acting Principal
POSITIVE BEHAVIOURS FOR LEARNING (PB4L)
Our PB4L/SEL (Social & Emotional Learning) focus for the Week 4 of Term 4 will be based Relationship skills with the Focus being:
Sharing with others
In the explicit teaching lessons the expected behaviours taught will be:
1. Let the person use the item first.
2. Ask if you can use it later
3. When you get to use it, offer it back to the other person after you have used it.
We would very much appreciate your discussing these weekly PB4L/SEL focuses with your children and reviewing the expected and non-acceptable behaviours in our endeavour to see that St Patrick’s is a more respectful, responsible and safe learning community for all.
PB4L Data
It is with pride that I inform you that over the last two weeks 25 students were given Citizenship, Merit, Library or Uniform Awards or Playground Affirmation Awards. There were only 2 incidents of inappropriate behavior recorded. Thank your girls and boys. Please continue to act respectfully, responsibly, and safely.
Congratulations to the Term 4 class prefects who were carefully chosen by their classroom teachers to lead their class this term.
First Holy Communion Candidates
Please keep these children in your prayers as they begin preparations for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. This is indeed a special time in their lives as Catholics and members of our school community! May their journey through this sacrament of initiation be spirit filled.
World Mission Month/Crazy Sock Day
Throughout October we are raising money for World Mission Month. On Wednesday of next week, October 26th we are having 'Crazy Sock Day' and will also be selling yummy ice cream creations. We are asking for gold coin donations from the children to wear crazy socks and the ice cream creations will be sold for $2.
The day will commence with a liturgy in the hall commencing at 8:55am. All community members are welcome and encouraged to join us at this liturgy.
Our focus country is Ethiopia, where the Church seeks to provide life-fulfilling opportunities for children in need. Our work will raise money for people in Emdibir, Ethiopia, to support a goat breeding program to provide income and nutrition for local people. Have a look at the attached video for further information about where our fundraising efforts will go.
Many thanks for your support!
All the best,
Mr Sam Mattas
Religious Education Coordinator

School Fees are invoiced as an annual account, due for payment in full 30 days after invoicing. However, many families elect to pay their school fees by regular instalments and as a new family to our school, we would like to offer you this option. If wish to take up this offer, please complete a Request to Pay by Instalment Form which is available on the school’s website or from the school’s administration office. On completion of the request, either email it to
instalments@dow.catholic.edu.
IMPORTANT: Please note that if you currently have a child or children at another school in the Diocese and you are paying by instalments at this location, you will not need to complete another Request to Pay by Instalment. The instalment request carries over from school to school with the same frequency of payment eg Weekly, fortnightly, etc.
PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES BY INSTALMENT
EXISTING FAMILIES IN OUR SCHOOL WITH INSTALMENTS
If you are currently paying by instalments there is no need to complete another Request to Pay by Instalment as your request carries over from year to year unless you wish to amend the frequency of your payments eg Weekly to Fortnightly
EXISTING FAMILIES IN OUR SCHOOL WITHOUT INSTALMENTS
If you would like to pay school fees by instalments in 2023 and have previously not taken up this option for payment, please complete a Request to Pay by Instalment Form which is available on the school’s website or from the school’s administration office. KINDERGARTEN 2023 - TRANSITION TO SCHOOL PLAYGROUP
As we move into the warmer months it is easy to forget our winter uniform items. Our lost property basket is overflowing with jumpers, jackets and trackpants. We do our best to return items to their respective owners but many items are not labelled and this makes it quite difficult. It is most important that all uniform items are clearly labelled and checked regularly that the label has not faded due to washing. Please check at home that all items of uniform are accounted for and if not encourage your child/ren to check the Lost Property Basket.
