And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. Acts 2:2–4
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
This Sunday the church celebrates Pentecost. You might hear it called the "Birthday of the Church.” Pentecost happens 50 days after Easter, and it celebrates a truly incredible event: when the Holy Spirit came down upon Mary and the Apostles.
The Apostles were gathered together, feeling lost and unsure after Jesus had ascended into heaven. Suddenly, there was a sound like a strong wind, and what looked like flames of fire appeared over each of their heads. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and had the courage and power to go out and share the Good News of Jesus with everyone, even speaking in different languages so everyone could understand.
This was the moment the Church truly began it's mission. The Holy Spirit gave the Apostles the gifts they needed to be brave and spread Jesus' message of love and hope to the whole world.
As Catholics, we are reminded of the wonderful gifts given to us, like wisdom, understanding, courage, and kindness. These gifts help us to be better followers of Jesus and to make a positive difference in our own lives and in the lives of others.
Dear God, We thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to your Apostles and to us. Thank you for the gifts of the Holy Spirit – for wisdom, understanding, courage, and kindness. Help us to use these gifts to follow Jesus, to love one another, and to share your good news with everyone we meet. Fill our hearts with your Holy Spirit, so we can be your loving hands and feet in the world. Amen.

Celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation
We were blessed to celebrate a very special milestone in the faith journey of many of our Year 6 students as they received the Sacrament of Confirmation, both at St Therese in West Wollongong, and the Immaculate Conception Parish in Unanderra. Surrounded by their families, sponsors, teachers, and parish community, the students were sealed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit in a joyful and reverent liturgy led by Bishop Brian.
Confirmation marks a deepening of our students’ commitment to their Catholic faith. Through this sacrament, they are strengthened by the Holy Spirit to live as courageous witnesses to Christ’s love in the world. It was truly uplifting to see our students step forward with such reverence and joy, supported by the prayers and guidance of those around them.
In the lead-up to the celebration, the students prepared through prayer, reflection, and learning about the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit. We are incredibly proud of their maturity and openness to God's call in their lives.
We pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to guide and inspire each of them in the years ahead. May they always know the strength, wisdom, and peace that comes from living a life of faith. Congratulations to all our newly Confirmed students!
National Reconciliation Week Liturgy: Bridging Now to Next
During National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June), our school community gathered for a special liturgy to reflect on this year's theme, Bridging Now to Next. This theme highlights the ongoing connection between past, present, and future, urging all Australians to step forward together, guided by the lessons of history.
Through prayer, song, and reflection, we honoured the histories and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The liturgy served as a meaningful opportunity for our students to deepen their understanding of reconciliation and to reaffirm our commitment to walking together toward a more united and respectful Australia.

In the Easter school holidays, Jackson Harb was a part of the TS11 team for the IFA National Tournament held at Wanderers Park, Rooty Hill. Jackson had been scouted by the Western Sydney Wanderers staff, who identified him from the tournament as a high-quality player they wanted in their Elite Development Squad.
This Elite Development Squad is the invitation-only stage, before the Western Sydney Wanderers Academy, where they combine their players from U13’s, all the way through to A-League squads. An incredible achievement that our community is very proud of. Your relentless work ethic is admirable. We wish Jackson the best of luck in his future football endeavors.
Congratulations Jackson!
Congratulations to Jackson and Luka in Year 5 on being selected for the 2025 Wollongong Primary Boys Football Representative team!
This is an outstanding achievement—especially for Year 5 students—being selected from the competitive sports trials in the Diocese, with hundreds of students showcasing their skills from the West and the South Coast over two trials to make the Wollongong team.
With the team, Luka and Jackson then travelled to the Western Sydney Wanderers Football Park at the end of May to compete against other Diocesan teams, demonstrating exceptional ball skills and teamwork throughout a long and demanding day - a high-pressure situation in which the boys truly excelled.
Keep working hard on your footballing craft, boys — we're proud of you and excited to see what the future holds!
